Ghillies Restaurant

Parkland History London based Parkland Films was formed in 1998, initially producing documentaries and now principally feature films. In 2006, Parkland Pictures was formed as an International Sales Agency to sell our own films and to acquire international sales rights to other films from outside the company. In 2010, Darkland Distribution was created focusing on the distribution of genre feature films. In 2011, a partnership was signed with Odyssey Pictures Corporation, the Texas based US publicly quoted company, for development, production and marketing.Parkland has numerous films in development, pre-production and production and is the appointed International Sales Agent for a slate of films. Parkland continually considers new material in the form of books, scripts and ideas. London based producer John Cairns is the founder and CEO of the company.
People John CAIRNSCEOJohn started his film career in 1982 producing music videos. From 1982 to 1992, he produced more than 75 music videos and live concert performances for artists such as The Stranglers, Elton John, ELO, The Jam, The Clash, UB 40, Chrissie Hynde and Robert Palmer and covered live concerts for Black Sabbath, Whitesnake and Queesryche. During this time he also produced and directed many TV commercials, corporate and government films and production, and managed a TV series for the BBC. In 1990 John combined music and publishing forming a team to produce the hugely successful Hard'n'Heavy rock music video series, the worlds first magazine on video, filmed worldwide and producing 18 volumes over three years. This led to producing large budget television documentaries including:•The Platinum Collection - a 20 part series of music and interviews on Hard Rock and Heavy Metal for Television, Video and DVD•Muhammad Ali, The Whole Story - a 10 part series on the boxing legend. John formed a sales company to independently sell the series. In 1994 John formed Parkland Productions. Having earlier filmed Muhammad Ali and Mother Teresa together in Calcutta, John obtained Mother Teresa's agreement to produce a book and film project about her work. John researched, conducted the interviews and jointly compiled, with Lucinda Vardey, the best selling book about Mother Teresa's work - A Simple Path (Random House 1995) published in 19 languages. John went on to produce and direct Love In Action, (TV 1998) the documentary on the work and inspiration of Mother Teresa containing her last interviews. John spent two years travelling with Mother Teresa, working in her homes in Calcutta, London and New York and filmed interviews with many who had been inspired and helped her, including then First Lady Hillary Clinton, and actor Martin Sheen. John Cairns is the founder and CEO of the Parkland Companies - independent companies under a common ownership. Originally producing documentaries the companies have progressed to development, financing, production and sales of feature films. Historically finance has been sourced from independent investors. Parkland Films is the production arm.Parkland Pictures is an international sales agent and distributor. Parkland Enterprises is a development and finance company. John has produced the feature films The Heavy and Wide Blue Yonder and executive produced L' Amour Caché and The Tender Hook. Johns other interests include wine trading and owning the well known Ghillies Restaurant & Bar in New Kings Road, Parsons Green, London.

Pierre-Louis MANESInternational Sales ExecutivePierre joined Parkland Pictures in April 2011 as an International Sales Executive.Previously, Pierre worked for Paramount Home Entertainment in Paris and for Betclic in London. He graduated from French Business School EMLYON.

GHILLIES - Restaurant & Bar

John's other interests include owning the well known Ghillies Restaurant & Bar in New Kings Road, Parsons Green, London. The restaurant, then known as The Trencherman, was once owned by actor Terence Stamp.
